The next step to getting a job in a call centre is to get an interview. If you have achieved an interview then you need to remind yourself that you are still far from getting the job of your dreams. This article will tell you what to expect and how to act in a call centre interview.

As with all interviews preparation is key to being hired. Even managers find conducting interviewing candidates very stressful. Some managers are not very good at it at all and believe that spending around half an hour with a candidate is enough to make up their mind about them.

All interviews will be structured, there will be basic criteria which you will be judged by and some interviews don't use the standard interview format. Some interviewers may show you around their premises and see whether you have any good ideas.

You need to make sure you know information about the company for example what they do, where they do it and their reputation. You will need to understand the importance of the organisation and the interviewer will be looking to see whether you're in tune with the atmosphere that the call centre is trying to create.

An interview is most likely to be like a conversation and there will be some questions, which you will have to answer. The interviewer will make notes to avoid misremembering what you said and will mark you up on questions, which you answered well and will mark you down if your answers were disappointing.

Try not to be nervous, be confident in your skill as the interviewer will not be able to get a complete understanding of your competencies if you are nervous. They may start with a few simple, social style questions before moving into the more proper ones, this is to calm you down and to get you to start talking about neutral things.
As you will be put in front of customers the interviewer will want to see how you communicate. They want you to be enthusiastic and friendly and they also will want you to keep the conversation going on your side.

You will be asked what your strengths and weaknesses are, they know that you will have rehearsed some and will probably wait until you unfold what your weaknesses are. You'll normally be asked what you do to minimise their weaknesses.

They will ask you to give them real life scenarios which will show your true personality. They may even ask what you found difficult in your last job and what you do when you get stressed. They want to know how you solve problems and if you can learn from experiences.

They will finish the interview by asking you if you have any questions and they will evaluate the kind of questions that you ask. For example if you ask how long the lunch breaks are they might take this to mean that the business is not uppermost in your mind.

They don't want to make any mistakes in hiring the wrong person. If you are confident in your abilities then you have a good chance in getting the job you want. Good luck.
