There are thousands of retail stores opened in almost every town and city. With all the retail shops put together, they provide nearly every type of consumer goods and services which the general public can purchase and use. The retail sector is one of the most important industry leaders of providing jobs to the general public and they are also the one of the largest supporting sector that supports the government funds due to the value added tax on a number of the goods sold.

Every person throughout United Kingdom would visit retail shops and there would not be a single person who has not bought from retail stores. Retail shops are opened in so many places and it is the centre of people’s places to go when going shopping for goods.

The work provided within the retail sector is phenomenal; there are so many retail shops opened that the chances of finding work within the retail sector is also possible. With a variety of retail stores each of which are selling different kinds of products and providing different kinds of services, the job seekers who are looking for work within this sector can expect a number of different responsibilities, learning opportunities and experiences.

The types of jobs found within the retail sector may be similar but will have different titles and these includes: retail assistants, customer service assistants, sales assistants, customer service advisors, retail advisors, stock room assistants, cleaners, supervisors, team leaders, assistant managers, security guards, store managers and area managers. There will also be a back office staff which deals with the administration and payroll side which includes store administrators, payroll administrator and human resource administrators that deals with the recruitment, training and employee issues.

The retail sector contributes so much to the job industry that it would be a disaster if this sector is no longer available; thankfully these circumstances realistically would not happen.
Every retail store will be able to provide full time and part time positions, some will provide the positions more often than others but those positions will always be available in some parts of the year. A majority of the work provided are permanent positions but there is also temporary work available in certain parts of the year when it is extremely busy and that includes Christmas and the end of summer.

Without these busy periods in certain parts of the year, there will be fewer people applying to these jobs but when the jobs are available it is definitely worth gaining experience within this sector.
The retail stores provide every new employee the training required to work within the store and experience for the individuals. A lot of retail stores would not need to have candidates with previous retail experience which is an advantage to those who have never worked before. The types of duties and responsibilities available within the retail stores would differ from each store but for nearly all roles, the main aim is to provide customers with an excellent service and for every employee to work as a team to ensure the store is running smoothly.

The UK retail sector provides the members of public hundreds of different goods and services to choose from and a place to shop. More and more shopping centres are being opened within the UK which enables more retail stores and franchise retail stores to open. With the help of new shopping centres being built it has enabled more retail shops to open and as a result more job opportunities available on the market.

As mentioned previously the retail sector offers different types of position available within each store. There are a number of different responsibilities and duties with the chance of working within the customer service environment. A majority of people who work in the retail stores can expect to have discounts on the goods and services sold as well as a reasonable rate of pay. They can also gain customer service experience which is essential for a number of different positions within the job industry and they are able to transfer the skills gained to another company.

Overall, the retail sector is a very important industry that plays and important part in helping to sustain the economy. It is a sector that provides consumers the places to purchase a number of different goods and services and the opportunities for people to find work and gain employment experience. The retail sector is an industry that will continue to operate for years to come.
