Feasts or festivals showcase a community’s unique aspects and sense of togetherness. Traditionally, belief systems hold a collection of festivals to offer reverence to their God or gods.

The word ‘feast’ in common manner of speaking refers to a big or elaborate dinner. In relationship to festival, it often refers to a non secular festival rather than a film or art festival.

Origins

The word festival has been obtained from the Middle English ‘fest’ and ‘festivus’ from Old French. It has been also rooted to the phrase ‘festivus’ in Old latin. In the year 1589, it was used as a noun other than the 1300's adjective that means to celebrate for the duration of a church holiday. The word feast has derivations fairly just like festival. It is handed down from the Old English ‘feste’ and ‘festa’ from Latin.

Aim

The aim of festivals in many types is to satisfy communities’ particular communal needs and obligations. Other than the leisure that they create, these community dealings provide a sense of being a part of people of religions, public or regional communities. Historically, a feast provided a method of developing unity among families and alternatives to find a partner or mate. Festivals had been instances when the neighborhood elders could share stories and pass along knowledge to the younger members. Present day ethnic and cultural festivals now give attention to dissemination of details about traditions among members.

Kinds

Festivals have many non secular beginnings. Others have certain seasonal recurring importance or cultural importance. Around the world, groups including a number of establishments, rejoice during a number of fests or festivals. It is usually celebrated annually to mark some a significant event in their history.

Seasonal Fests

These kinds of celebrations are determined by the cycle of the seasons and by the solar and moon calendars which inadvertently affects the food supply. Seasonal celebrations are like the ancient Egyptians’ inundation that was attributable to the Nile River and the silt and waters it provided to make the earth fertile for food crops.

Almabtrieb is a seasonal recurring fest within the Alps which commemorates the return of the cattle from mountain grazing grounds to the stables in autumn. Fests decided by the lunar calendar are Winter Fests and the Chinese New Year which is well known by the day of the brand new moon after the winter solstice.

Christmas after all, is the celebration of the beginning of Jesus and signifies the beginning of salvation within the new year. Octoberfest in Germany is the celebration of the crop harvest in the fall and is widely known with beer, music and food fests.

Particular events are honored by instructional institutes like colleges and Senior elementary, middle or High Schools every year to indicate a sure special event in their history.
