Always keeping your braces clean is very important, and will help prevent issues and keep irritation down. Recalling the subsequent hints will help make sure that your orthodontic treatment is successful.
1) Remember: Clean orthodontic braces allow your teeth to align quicker!
When your teeth are clean, your mouth doesn't allow for bacteria to spread. Because bacteria feed on excess food and generate acidic substances as a by-product, you must make sure to keep your mouth clean. If not, your body's immune (defense) system can react by directing extra blood cells which may cause puffiness of your gums. This could postpone tooth alignment.
2) Remember: Thoroughly clean teeth can align more easily! When gums are irritated as a result of poor cleaning, they create stress the body employs to signal you with pain. Patients who keep their braces clean rarely mention any soreness.
3) Don't forget: Orthodontic Braces are usually trickier to thoroughly clean!
The naturally smooth exterior on the tooth can practically clean itself. However, with orthodontic braces we produced multiple little "food traps". Furthermore, the presence of orthodontic brackets on your teeth now prevents the natural actions of cheeks, lips and tongue from cleaning the teeth naturally. Therefore, brush your teeth whenever you eat something. Otherwise, it'll take longer to brush them correctly!
4) Remember: Try to portion the mouth into smaller quarters just like dentists often do! Take at least 30 seconds to brush each quarter of the mouth.
5) Remember: Brush the outsides as well!
Lots of people overlook the gum-line of the upper-back and lower front teeth. So, close up your mouth and be sure to brush the outside surfaces of your teeth also. Clean brackets should shine!
6) Don't forget: Contemplate cleaning aids!
a. Dental Cleanings. Participate in more frequent dental cleanings at your dentist. Try to get your teeth cleaned 3 to 4 times every 12 months.
b. Fluoride. Make sure to use the concentrated fluoride toothpaste the orthodontist will prescribe. You can also use a fluoride mouthwash as well. Fluoride strengthens the enamel of the teeth.
c. Manual Toothbrushes. A Manual toothbrush (tiny heads with soft bristles) work best. The tiny heads can easily be changed to fit even the most jagged teeth. Be sure to soften the bristles with warm water prior to brushing your teeth. Electric toothbrushes can work, if they're of good quality. The Rota-dent toothbrush features a tiny tip which fits between the brackets and under the wires effectively and it does last longer.
d. Floss. Flossing your teeth is critical if you wish to avoid unattractive puffy gums. Make use of a tooth flossing aid referred to as the "Floss-Popper".
