Some people consider birding to be more onerous and complicated than it is. And then they think of sitting with only a book, a ball point, and binoculars for many hours or all day.
While certainly it can be this way, and many who enjoy the diversion like to do it in this manner, it does not have to be so boring. Watching out for wild birds can be as easy as putting a couple of bird feeders in your garden and taking pleasure in whatever comes to visit from a comfy chair on your deck. A visit to an online wild bird store can teach you sufficiently to appreciate what birds like to eat. Birds appreciate to consume Sunflower and Safflower seed, Nyjer seed, suet, mealworms, and insects.

The better way to attract a variety of birds is to create an area where birds want to be, and for you to spend some time filling bird feeders with food. This necessitates having an assortment of bird feeders availabe for the birds with various foods to attract an assortment of them. You could, you know, start with one simple hummingbird feeder and a hopper feeder with Safflower seed for the bigger birds. Throw in a bird bath for good measure and there are sure to be plenty of feathered friends for you to watch without ever leaving your porch. You may be able to watch from your window if you place the feeders properly.

If you follow this advice and see that a quite a few birds are delighted with your bird feeders, you can even make a game out of what types are coming, and look for signs that the same ones return. It's fun to see if they will bring their family and friends. You may have regulars and the occasional drifter stopping in for a bite. Do keep a journal and a field guide handy so you can look up wild birds that visit, and make notes of distinguishing feather marks of the birds.
