There are 10 billion distinct online searches conducted each month in the USA, and around 40% of these searches are for local services, businesses and products. For small and medium size businesses that want to be seen in today's highly competitive online marketing world, local search marketing is imperative. The days of using the dusty old telephone book to find local businesses are over. Nowadays, most users usually search for your services on the web, mobile devices, car navigation systems, enhanced 411 services or other high tech devices. Most people want to filter their searches to their local places as a result of rising need among visitors to know who they are dealing with, or they may prefer to personally visit your location. Local Search Marketing will develop brand awareness, instill trust for local people, and most importantly increases return on investment and revenue. Investing in a professional marketing company can maximize your return on investment for less. If you are a do it yourself person, then following the steps below will help you along the way.
Step One: Get listed, take your listing, and update your business information on major local data providers and top local search engines for free of cost:
o Top Local data providers: Amacai (or Localeze), InfoUSA, and Acxiom.
o Major local search sites: Google Maps, Yahoo Local, MSN Live Search, and Ask City.
o Topmost internet Yellow Pages sites: YellowPages.com, SuperPages.com, and DexOnline.com.

Step Two: Submit and enhance your site to Goggles Places page (formerly known as Google Local Business Center). Make sure to incorporate the following:
o Basic company information
o Email address, description and web site address.
o Types of service
o Business type selection.
o Hours of operation and payment options.
o Images and video clips.
o Other business details.
o Finally, examine for accuracy, and then submit to save the changes.

Step Three: In order to "get found" on leading search engines and to increase your ranking, start off by building citations (or links) to your listings. A good number of citations will contain the following: your company name, business phone number, your URL and business categorization. Any additional sources that will allow more rich information about your business such as consumer reviews will also help your ranking.

Step Four: Select the proper service provider: your web site should be hosted in the country where most of your clients reside. As an example, if your organization is based in the United States and your domain is hosted in the United Kingdom, the chance of your website ranking well in the England is better since search engines will register your website to be a UK website!

As a smart business operator, make Local Search Marketing a major part of your website marketing campaign in order to increase community acceptance among consumers, and thus improve sales and revenue. Local search online marketing is also a great way to begin your online marketing journey, given that it takes less time and a smaller budget when compared to other online marketing methods.
