When they are making a list of necessary accessories for their boat, people usually won't remember their boat cover. However, a boat cover is just as necessary as any other accessory on your boat. Unless you have a custom boat cover made you a special reason, choosing a boat cover isn't that difficult even for a discounted boat cover. Regardless of the kind of fabric and the style or make of your boat, the small investment for a boat cover makes it worthy investment.
When selecting a fabric for your boat cover, there are two factors that are very important that you should consider. One is if the boat cover will perfectly fit your boat and the other is the material you use for making your boat cover.
For this reason, you should select the fabric for your boat cover first. There are many options available. However, the most commonly used fabrics are a mix of polyester and cotton, polyester, and cotton canvas.
Many boat owners prefer a judicious blend of cotton and polyester for the fabric for their boat cover. This combines the water repellant and strength characteristics of polyester with the breathing capabilities and the inexpensive nature of cotton canvas. The normal proportion of the two fabrics is either 60/40 or 50/50, with the 60/40 proportion being the better for a boat cover. This blend of fabrics provides you with the best of both worlds.
However, cotton canvas is the better option if you are concerned about the expense. Although it might not be suitable during the rainy season, it will provide good protection for your boat in climates that are moderate. The reason for this is that cotton is natural fiber and it isn't waterproof but it is breathable. However, it will prevent damage from mildew because it will permit moisture to evaporate. It can also be used when towing because it can be tied up. Usually, canvas boat covers have a warranty period of between 2 and 3 years.
Polyester fabric is extremely durable and very strong. This is the reason that it is the favorite of many boat owners who want a custom boat cover. The weight comes of polyester fabric is between 6 and 19 ounces. The best boat covers are treated with urethane or acrylic to prevent soaking and to prolong the life of the cover. It has a longer period of warranty which is between 3 and 7 years. Also, it is resistant to mildew, rot, and staining. In addition, it won't stretch or shrink the way that the inexpensive cotton boat cover will. However, it might not work very well in climates that have high humidity.
A custom boat cover will provide advantages over regular boat covers. Not only will it provide protection from environmental pollution such as mildew and from the sun but it will also keep your boat free from moisture, rain, and dirt.
If you want an inexpensive boat cover, your best option is a discounted boat cover. They offer considerable advantages but nor as many as custom boat covers. A boat cover will provide a longer life span for your boat. The primary difference is that the life span of the boat cover won't be as long as a custom boat cover.
