FC Ordabasy Shymkent have lifted the actual Kazakh Cup for the first time inside their history after seeing off of FC Tobol Kostanay 1-0 in the final within Almaty.
The showpiece meeting would be a rematch of the decider four years ago, when Tobol emerged 3-0 invariably winners. It was a different tale this time around, however, while Ordabasy began in determined fashion and hit the crossbar through Artem Kasyanov, before Vitali Volkov threatened with a harmful effort at the other end.
The only goal of the game came a few minutes before the break because Mukhtar Mukhtarov pounced on a mistake and located the net, and Ordabasy ongoing pressing after that, getting an additional advantage any time Tobol lost Nenad Sljivic to a red card following their challenge on Daurenbek Tazhimbetov. We were holding then able to hold on to their lead throughout comfortable playing conditions, despite Almaty having been strike by freezing temperature ranges and snow at the outset of last week.
"I think we had arrived the better team today," said Ordabasy midfielder Azat Nurgaliyev. "This sport had a special which means for me, as I played out for Tobol last year. We could have won 3-0 or even 5-0, but one goal ended up being enough. I'm completely happy right now."
"Our town deserved this accomplishment," added opponent Farkhadbek Irismetov. "People love football inside Shymkent. There have always been excellent teams in this community, but we've barely won the prize for the first time. The players tend to be glad to have made the fans happy."
