So many people would love to know how to write killer copywriting, but it is not an overnight achievement or something you take lightly. One thing for sure is that you cannot ever guess at what goes into copy that achieves high conversions. If you want to pursue this excellent craft, then decide right now that you will commit yourself to the process.
Any experience in business you possess will only help to write better copy because your understanding will be richer. There is no question that having a deeper understanding of the overall process of sales can be of great value. The main benefit is you will have a much more in-depth knowledge of what the reader may be thinking as the copy is being read. However, even if you just like to write that will be helpful, and you should at least not mind writing. Consider maybe doing something business related or even working an offline sales job to gain deeper insight into the selling process. Always keep in mind that words make sales, not graphics, not animation; you need to put life into the words that you're inserting into your copy and make them as compelling as possible. People can quickly grow tired of reading adjectives and hype, and those devices have limited impact, anyway. Get in the habit of reading what you have written, and all competent copywriters will proof their work, anyway. There is so much involved with being a competent copywriter, and the learning never ends.
There is a little something called, truth in advertising, and that extends to sales copy as well. Obviously you know that if you cannot do that to a sufficient extent, then you will have conversion problems. Each piece of copy you write has to be approached in very much the same way, and you will learn more about that once you begin serious study. If the audience knows the product creator, then that will, or can, be a huge plus factor in the trust department.
Do not be afraid to learn copywriting and make a run at it if you think you can do it and want to do it. How you learn copywriting is not always the most important thing, and in any case we stress the importance of the principles.
