Finally you can have that beautiful smile you have always wanted, improve your appearance and boost your self esteem with cosmetic dentistry. Your dull or stained teeth can be whitened, your short, long or crooked teeth can be reshaped and that empty gap can now be filled.
For those teeth that are dull and discolored or stained form all that coffee or cigarettes you have been taking can now be whitened through a simple whitening procedure. The procedure entails the dentist taking a mold of your teeth, which is used to make a tray. The tray will hold a substance to be applied to your teeth so as to avoid it from getting on your gums as it can irritate it. Once your teeth has been bleached for the prescribe time as directed by your dentist it should be restored to its original white color.
If the original color of your teeth is not that bright white which you may desire, you may need veneers instead of whitening. Your cosmetic dentist would take a mold of your teeth and use it to make the veneer. The veneer is basically a covering to be worn on your teeth which hides any stains or discoloration and it looks natural. However, to wear the veneer you would need to have some dental work and teeth reduction done.
If you may need that crooked, chip, crack or overlapping tooth corrected, consider tooth reshaping or contouring. This is also a simple and pain free procedure where the cosmetic dentist uses a special sanding drill or laser to sculpt the tooth eliminating or minimizing any imperfections. Abrasive strips are rubbed between the teeth to shape the side of the tooth, followed by smoothing and polishing. This can be done in as little as one visit to the dentist.
Maybe you want to fill that unattractive gap instead; dental bridge or implants are great options to fill that empty space. If you choose to have the dental bridge done, your cosmetic dentist will make an artificial tooth known as the bridge or crown. This bridge or crown will be cemented to your natural teeth surrounding the empty space. Bridges can last or much as ten years or more once proper oral hygiene is adhere to. Your other option of filling that gap would be implants; this entails drilling of the bone and attaching a titanium screw which is then covered by a crown.
So the next time you look into the mirror and wish that you had a beautiful smile, just remember that cosmetic dentistry is there to make your dream come true.
