As a Colorado native, it seriously baffles me how much the state of Colorado has grown up over the last few years. While living in France people would ask me where I called home. When I said that I came from Colorado, they would all smile and say "Oh, like Doctor Quinn!" I can certainly tell you that Colorado today is substantially different from the setting for Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman. Since the millennium the state's population has risen by over 750,000. Once recognized for our open spaces, these are quickly becoming a thing of the past, but I suppose we are responsible for this. Colorado has become a very appealing place to reside. Louisville, Colorado was titled the best place to live in Money Magazine's top 100 list for 2011. Aside from Louisville, four other Colorado towns made the list. Pretty remarkable, huh? I guess if we would stop becoming recognized for these types of things we wouldn't have so many newcomers from all over the place. But who wouldn't like waking up to a stunning rocky mountain backdrop every single morning? Not only are our towns gaining acknowledgement for the quality of life they give to their citizens, but Colorado is home to a number of highly regarded businesses. One industry that we are particularly fond of here at Baskets By Rita is the gourmet food industry. Not only is Colorado recognized for restaurant chains such as Old Chicago, Chipotle, Noodles & Company, Quizno's, and Good Times, but the state is also home to quite a few high-end food companies as well. At Baskets By Rita we support Colorado businesses like Bhakti Chai, Bobo's Oat Bars, Celestial Seasonings, Chocolove, and Boulder Natural Foods, each of which are situated in Boulder, Colorado. There just might be something about Boulder that encourages people to develop healthy, mouth watering foods. If you are not acquainted with each of these brands, you may possibly be familiar with other Colorado companies for instance Hammond's Candies, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Larabar, and Too Haute Cowgirls. Maybe I'm something of a foodie, but if the mountains don't entice folks in, I would think that companies like these would entice people to move to Colorado. Oh, and did I include that there are around 120 breweries in Colorado? Colorado has been referred to as the Napa Valley of the beer world. What can I say? Colorado is amazing! If I have succeeded in wetting your appetite and you are now itching for Colorado made food and beer why not purchase a db:01: from us and try some for yourself. db:02: Maybe if you order one of our baskets and love the products enough, you too might contemplate moving to the centennial state.
