Car donation is a really nice thing to do. When you donate your car, truck, or s u v you help the charity, you get a tax deduction and you get the satisfaction of knowing you have helped the needy. There are many District of Columbia Charities you can donate your car to.
The mission of the Prevent Cancer Foundation is to advocate and support the prevention and early detection of cancer through research, education and community outreach to all populations, including children and the underserved. Founded in 1985 as Cancer Research and Prevention, they have provided more than $120 million towards this mission.
The Fund for Peace is a research and educational organization that works to prevent violent conflict in the world. Working in over 50 countries, they attempt to build bridges across diverse sectors, and to develop the tools to mitigate conflicts.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America works to help those suffering with asthma and allergy to successfully manage and control their disease. They are the only asthma and allergy patient organization that offers programs and tools for patients, caregivers, and health professionals. They have been improving the lives of asthma and allergy sufferers in D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia since 1982.
The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association is dedicated to the eradication of autoimmune diseases and the alleviation of suffering and the socioeconomic impact of autoimmunity. Some 50 million Americans suffer from autoimmune diseases. AARDA is the only national nonprofit health agency dedicated to bringing a national focus to autoimmunity, the major cause of serious chronic disease.
One in three adults in the District of Columbia is functionally illiterate. Of the 50 states and D.C., D.C. ranks last in standardized test scores. Teach for America is working to change that and to ensure that children in D.C. get an excellent education. They are recruiting leaders to work to expand educational opportunities and teach for two years in the District of Columbia.
The National Coalition for the Homeless is committed to creating the systemic and attitudinal changes necessary to prevent and end homelessness. At the same time, they are working to meet the immediate needs of people who are currently homeless or who are in danger of becoming so.
The National Capital Area of the Boy Scouts of America is dedicated to developing the character of young people and preparing them to make good choices throughout their lifetimes. They operate over 300 local councils in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
