Many millions of people around the world are intrigued and curious about the life of the Buddha.
This inspirational figure serves as a source of divine teaching and enlightenment even many centuries after his birth and death. Some people are in such awe of this spiritual teacher that they choose to add Buddha décor to their homes, businesses and offices.
According to the Buddhist beliefs the way to true spiritual harmony and enlightenment are only discovered if one follows the teachings of the original Buddhist master. Known as The Awakened One this man chose to spread the messages of love, forgiveness, harmony and happiness instead of entering the Paradise of Nirvana.
In order to honor and remember these teachings Buddha décor is frequently chosen for special rooms in the home. There are plaques, wall hangings and statues that display likenesses of the Buddha and some of this Buddha décor simply bear his words of wisdom.
It is claimed that the life of The Buddha began more than 2500 years in the past. Buddha wandered the lands and eventually achieved the perfection of pure enlightenment. During these travels he would learn many important lessons about the meaning of life and it was these lessons that the Buddha sought to share with the world.
The story of the Buddha is thought to be a pious recounting of the life and teachings of this Eastern figure. However there is also much that remains unknown, or is unable to be authenticated.
The life of The Buddha begins with his very conception and the first Buddhist teachings would follow his spiritual Awakening. There are many items of Buddha décor that can be chosen for a home, office or spiritual center. It is usually the statues of The Awakened One that most people seem to be familiar with.
The Buddha was born to a king who lived in Kapilavastu. This city is near the Indian and Nepalese border. His birth name was Siddhartha Gautama. The tolerant and encompassing beliefs that he would one day teach are said to have been the result of lessons that were learned during both his present and past lifetimes.
The conception of the Buddha occurred during a full moon. Maya, the Buddha’s mother, had a vision that a white elephant with a lotus blossom held in its trunk entered her womb. This event is known as the Descent of the Blessed One and these very words are memorialized on medallions.
The conception and birth of the Buddha are intended to convey the purity and supernatural natures of these important events. Every aspect of the life of the Buddha is shown to have been morally and spiritually pure.
Today Buddhism is a major spiritual philosophy that teaches the inevitability of pain, suffering and eventual death. To release yourself from emotional and physical pain this philosophy teaches that you need to separate yourself from the meaningless objects to which you have formed ‘non-spiritual’ attachments.
Many intellectuals have embraced these teachings as a way to accept personal responsibility for one’s own dissatisfaction, sadness and pain. These same people often choose some type of Buddha décor to remind them of the path that they are following.
Buddha décor includes statues for the home and garden, but there are also plaques, painted tiles and other artwork that depicts various important events in the Life of the Buddha. Mantras and prayer chants favored by Buddhists are frequently inscribed on beautiful types of wood, metals and other materials. These are also part of the tranquil and serene products that are offered in Buddha décor as feng shui products.
