With the economy in its current state, it has become difficult for people to find work, no matter what profession you are. In a competitive field like nursing, it is especially complicated, because so many are applying for the same position. So, how can you make yourself stand out against your competition? You can’t expect to simply walk into a hospital wearing your nursing scrubs, and be handed a job right on the spot. So how can you find a job in nursing?
The first place you should start is the job boards. Sure, it might help to go to hospitals and ask if they are hiring, then hand in an application that they can hold on to for a while, but that takes a lot of time and energy. Now it’s time to put those networking skills to use. Call everyone you know in the medical field, because someone always knows someone who can help you out or connect you with someone else. For those of us in the business field, LinkedIn can be very helpful in connecting with people and building our network of trusted contacts. There are many of sites like this one out there, you just have to know where to look. But stick to it, and if you are persistent and determined enough, you’ll be walking through your hospital wearing nursing uniforms before you know it!
